I always love hearing actors blow up, like they have important, critical jobs or something, and then whine and swear like a sailor.

From what I've heard, the guy he chewed out, a DP from a bunch of shite movies, is a real primadonna prick who treats his underlings like shit and grovels before stars. He was acting unprofessionally, screwing around on set mid-scene walking in front of the camera for no reason (which is probably accepted in Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift, but not around a severe and pretentious Welshman who's acted Shakespeare). A lot of the people who witnessed it were taken in the glee of shadenfreude, and the studio officially released it to TMZ because they take any opportunity they can to knock actors down a few pegs, as for DPs - they're easily replacable by the hordes of morons filing out of film and art vocational schools, not to mention the bathhouses frequented by execs, so it was more about shitting on Bale than defending somebody on their set.

They entertain us, that's important enough of a job I guess, as important as the dude that flips the burger and prepares it your way so you can have a greasy treat.

Perhaps, but I've never really seen one of Bale's movies, save for a bit of Empire of the Sun.

I mean c'mon, he blew on the set of Terminator 4 - it's being directed by Mc fucking G. McG used to direct Sugar Ray videos and whatnot.

I don't get what you're trying to argue here: that it was okay to do so because it was a McG movie? If so, that's reasonable, in fact, that's VERY reasonable. Or are you trying to say he should come down to earth and accept the fact that his shit stinks like the rest of us because he's on a McG movie and he should be a little more gracious to the mouth breathers surrounding him? If so, you're perpetuating mouth-breather ideology and you should be blown up at too.

Two wrongs don't make a right.

If this was a "normal" job, and a co-worker got into a heated shouting match like, the person would probably be fired or reprimanded in some way. But Hollywood being Hollywood, DP's can walk into the scene, and actors be dicks. But this is also a McG movie, of a the 4th installment to a franchise that probably should've been put to sleep after Terminator 2.

My primary point, is that he blew up on the set of could be a crappy movie, directed by a crappy director. Maybe he just takes things so seriously, but I still don't understand why someone would blow up like that - have a talk with the guy, and then just reshoot the scene.

I don't care either way, I hate Christian Bale and think he's an overrated pretentious cunt. But from everything I've heard he's extremely professional and cordial with everybody on set, whereas the guy he blew up on has only ever done shite movies and is an ass to everybody.

This is supposed to be a reboot like Batman Begins and Casino Royale. It exists in the same mythology but it's a different universe. I don't care for McG but from the trailers it looks like it could be infinitely more fun than GI JOE The Rise of Cobra.

You don't understand because you were intentionally stripped of context by whomever released this (someone affiliated with the studio, naturally not any friend to stars). It's probably all just a bargaining tactic the next time Bale goes for a contract negotiation on a film.

That's just it though, I don't think you can compare this to a 'normal' job, unless you want to compare it to an important meeting, or perhaps a court session. I've never been on the set of a major motion big budget picture but I can imagine waltzing through a shot is akin to passing by the judge's bench during a trial to look for the bathroom. It shows such disregard for everyone else around you. The schedule for sci-fis are very tight, especially with this one requiring sets to be built up and torn down to make room for another.

Bale could have been shooting for more than 12 hours this day, who knows? Bale also makes a point to say "it's the 2nd time..." and alludes to his constant un-professionalism. Bale may be a dick, but you can tell he had reason to be at least agitated.
