Article in French but here's the gist of it:

Carbs spoke to him; Gui didnt understand what he needs to do; Gui frustrated and told the media; Carbs said his door was always open.

Methinks Gui should quit thinking he's Gui Lafleur and simplify things a little.

Thats what made him earn a spot.

Complaining to the media is fucking pathetic.

Latendresse should be unhappy: No professional wants to sit on the bench. It's the same when Brisebois complained or Roenick left. The money is nice, but these people do something better than anyone else in the world, so they want to fucking prove it.

Lats was in a slump. It was SKost who was benched for behaviour. Maybe Lats should be given some fourth line time soon over Laraque and see what the time off does to his game. The same eventually for Sergei, but I want to see some maturity out of him first. And no, not saying anything in the box is not maturity. If you sat out Steve Yzerman a few years ago I doubt he would have "taken it in stride".

Pretty much. Scoring a few goals and playing average-at-best hockey doesn't cut it when your club is aiming for tops in the league. I thought he should have been cut slack, but if he seriously thinks that a few goals since the start of the year is 'good enough' then he can rot for a while.

I'm not upset by the comments at all. Seems like he is genuinly trying and doesn't know what he has to do to get things going.

Hopefully, this is where the coaching staff take this opportunity to show him -more- what he has to do.

did you just use Roenick, Yzerman and Brisebois (all as veterans) in a comparison to Lats

I did, and I'm a wrestling fan so I lurrrrves the chairshots.

He isn't missing a flight or battling with teammates in the locker room, so I don't see how its fair to compare him to the Bitcharussian.

It will be interesting to see how the situation plays out. I like Gui, I really do, but he has some major liabilities that work against him. A lot of people have said that Gui's terrible skating and lack of speed would always hurt him and others said that he would improve. He has improved but the improvement has not been that great. I think it's been admitted by the Habs that keeping Lats with the team two years ago was a mistake. He has good size and decent hands but is a disaster in the transition game and in the defensive zone.

There are a bunch of players either with the Habs right now or playing in the AHL that probably help the team more now then Latendresse does. The problem being is that Latendresse needs to develop but he certainly can't do that in the press box. So do the Habs sacrifice a better lineup for the potential development of a guy that *might* turn into a great player? The Habs have a Stanley Cup contending team (or at the very least Eastern Conference contending team) and I just don't know where Latendresse fits.

Like I said, it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Simple. He plays 60 games & shuts the fuck up, working up a voracious appetite for getting back in the lineup(not unlike his appetite for free chicken). I don't see the problem with Lats as the 13th forward & getting rid of Begin. By game 70, he could be a real asset.

It's either that, or he gets placed in a 6x6' cage after every game & the coaching staff take turns whipping biscuits at him.

Hopefully this will teach him a lesson because it seems like he thinks he is doing everything right (which he is not). Sure he throws some hits but it's the other areas of his game that are suspect. I'm not convinced he would accept that role or I am convinced the Habs would use him that way.

I'm also of the opinion that Laraque is borderline useless. I would probably switch him to get Latendresse or Sergei back in but that can't happen until after Saturday since they all played so well last night.

Pretty simple, Lats. Hit people. Go to the front of the net. When you get the puck, protect it and cut into the middle using your strength. If you cannot do these things, you do not belong here.

He should be unhappy....but he should not say "I don't understand why" to the media especially after a talk with the coach.

You see the good thing sthat he can do, so you think you'll see them consistently and it just doesn't seem to be coming together. Too much of a tweener right now, he can't do what Kostopoulos can, he can't create his own chances like A.Kost can, he's still too complimentary. D'agostini has started moving the puck well and reading his linemates, so, it's kind of awkward right now. I really like the kid but the team wasn't in a position to be patient.

Most players on the team bring something else if they aren't producing, he doesn't.

That's exactly it. Probably caused by his lack of speed. Extra speed could make him a good fore checker, could help him be decent defensively and just more dynamic overall. Yes he gives body checks but most of the time when he gives it the play has already transitioned.

I would think that on the other board, his statue is being cast, but no, I'm not getting carried away, he's been good, not great, and he's gotten results.

I don't think it's 100% that he spends teh rest of the year here. I could see him becoming the team yo yo, in a non porn sort of way.

Gui enai malakismeno, sometimes. He needs to be more assertive on the ice. He's got a big body, good hands and an underrated vision, he could be a force out there if he developped a bit of a mean streak.

Like Higgins, I think experience will make him understand how to be usefull throughout the whole year and not just a few consecutive games.
