View Full Version : Change the Lines?

I loathe coaches who are schizophrenic about the lines and change them up shift after shift, but after 2 games I think a change is definitely needed on 2 of the Leafs lines. The top line really hasn't been effective at all. I was quite skeptical a line of Antropov/Ponikarovsky/Blake would ever work, and through 2 games I've been correct in my assumptions. I would drop Ponikarovsky down to the 3rd line and bring up Kulemin. Fuck it, the kid's here for his offense, bring him up and give him a shot with top line minutes. Drop Poni down to the Steen/Moore line and I think we're in better shape. Stajan gets dropped for Hollweg (unfortunately) and the 4th line is now Hollweg/Mayers/Mitchell.

As an aside, despite my comments above, the Tlusty/Grabovski/Hagman line has been entertaining as hell.

Our top line is shit and Antropov looks lost without Sundin so far. Poni has never deserved to be on a scoring line. That said, Steen-Moore-Poni would be a potentially nice 3rd line.

I always thought Steen's game was offense, is that an offensive-minded third line you guys run? I thought he'd be centering at least the second by now. Keep in mind I don't watch any Leafs games and the only thing I'm basing my opinion on is that insane goal he scored in some European league that made it onto Youtube.

Steen hasn't shown shit for offense and now looks to be a glorified 3rd liner.

Steen's development was destroyed by Paul Maurice. Also, his offensive potential may have been overestimated from the beginning.
