I'm starting to wonder if the NHL has their hands in this not wanting the top goalies to get worn out..?

Why? Ignore the Leafs' bias on my end - Gustavsson is still an NHL-calibre goaltender. He's also playing against Belarus, a team Sweden is expected to beat. Four years ago, you wouldn't have expected Swizterland to shut-out Canada, but they did. Eight years ago, no one would have expected Sweden to be beaten by Belarus, but they did. It happens. It was eight years ago when Belarus completed the upset, and I don't see substantial improvement on Belarus' end. Gustavsson should get the start and let Lundqvist get some rest.

It's possible. The drop off from Lundqvist to Gustavsson is quite significant whereas other teams like Russia or Canada it's not really the case. I don't really understand why they wouldn't just ride their horse instead of going to a marginal goalie. But it is Belarus so it *shouldn't* matter.

For a Starter its gonna be a tough haul next week with 3 must win games in a row in a short time period. If you've got a weak game this week, why not put in your backup?
