It's going to be an ugly night. You know this team of immature prima donnas already have mailed it in thinking about their flights out to Barbados and their well earned Olympic vacation. Combined with Getzlaf playing for all the marbles, it's not going to be a pretty night folks.

Hopefully Getzlaf has a big game. I want him ready, confident, and able for Canada.

I can't even be bothered to look for a stream.
Don't worry, OGE, he'll find a way to be "outscored" but of course ti will be JDD's/JFJ's/Strudwick's fault.

You don't like him? It's the top 6 that sucks. He's a good depth guy. Anything that pushes fringe fuckers like Nilsson off a cliff.
I just think I like him he realizes this is a big shot for him.

I like him just fine. Go back and check the thread when they acquired him.
Of course they could have had him and Glencross to push the fringe fuckers off the cliff.
I''m looking at Poo and JFJ here who have no business near an NHL team.

What a disaster. Saw it coming a mile away, no way I was watching. Instead saw a Canadian win gold with heart, not put a half ass effort into making their absurd paychecks on the eve of their winter vacation.

3A in a 7-3 loss. After a 1A/16GP hot streak.

Hopefully? Understatement of the year.
He has about 30 points to go before he's actually starting to meet lowered expectations.

Kind of related to our conversation about what to do with Seguin/Hall next season...
Can we send Horcoff back to juniors until he's ready for the NHL?

What did he say?
"Wait til summer so we can buy some superstar talent"?
"We think we have the right foundation here"?
"We're still implementing the new systems. We'll be competitive when the new systems are in place"?
"With Ales and Nikolai in the lineup, we would be in a playoff position right now"?
"We're still evaluating"?
Close?

Mostly evaluating and if we can't do anything at the trade deadline we can do something at the draft and if we can't do anything at the draft we can do something in the fall but we will restore this once great franchise so it's not good but great again but I can't tell you how I will do that because that's all negotiations but I have the greenlight to do whatever is necessary and I have since Kevin and Daryl gave me this job. I'm on it.

Do you ever remember a general manager taking over a team and then doing this little? If Tambellini thought we were contenders going into the summer and took another 6 months to evaluate that it needed a rebuild, he's completely fucking incompetent.
His moves:
Cole for O'Sullivan - at the time I thought he had a steal, but O'Sullivan added no other dimension to an already small forward roster, then he regressed into a complete pile of shit.
Khabibulin - locks up a goalie long term who's old and injury prone, and expensive.
Comrie - That one just fell in his lap. Comrie basically told the Oilers he was joining them this season.
I honestly would not be surprised in the least if the deadline passed and he did nothing. The Tambellini school of hockey:

I think "evaluating" must be code for something. Like...
"I am afraid to do something because if I make Kevin look bad by dealing one of his acquisitions for a bag of pucks, he might beat me up in the parking lot after work."
or
"I am terrified. I feel like I am caught in the headlights of an oncoming car. I am paralyzed with fear."
or
"I don't actually have any authority to do anything. I work for a guy who thinks that having eight 5'9 forwards is a recipe for success."
Comrie - That one just fell in his lap. Comrie basically told the Oilers he was joining them this season.
"Hi, I wanna job. Get your boss to talk to my dad and work out the details. See ya at camp."
I still can't get over how he got all emotional and choked up about the failures of last season and vowed change and promised to get bigger and tougher and harder to play against and the grand total outcome of all that was dealing Kyle Brodziak and bringing in Mike Comrie. Was the press conference all just complete bullshit? Or did he mean every word of it and then discover that his gonads are actually in somebody else's pocket?

Good question. Either way it adds up to a steaming pile. If I had to choose, I would hope it is incompetence and not Lowe calling the shots or worse yet, owner interference. The last option is particularly troubling.

The last option is definitely troubling.
As for whether it's Lowe and Tambellini, or just Tambellini, or just Lowe, I don't think it matters. They've both got to go.
Somebody has to fall on their sword for this, and considering this team has stunk for 4 straight seasons, firing a coach who just got here isn't going to cut it this time. I think every hockey fan in Edmonton is smart enough to recognize that the problem with this piece-of-crap franchise goes way deeper than coaching.
Somebody from the "brain trust" has to pay the price. And if Lowe isn't gone, I won't have much faith that the problem won't continue.

I totally agree, but I am not confident that we will see the changes we are hoping for. The talking heads (Stauffer, Debrusk etc) are already getting the ducks lined up for the "cover your ass" post season presser. They keep talking about how the team has new coaching, and new management (Tambo).
They plead for patience and are talking rebuild etc. This means to me that Lowe and Tambo are insulated and unless the fan revolt is so huge that it cant be ignored, it will be, and it will be business as usual at Loman and sons hockey inc.

Loman and sons hockey inc.
I like that
I've got all kinds of patience for a rebuild.
Unless it's run by Lowe and Tambellini.
Have Stauffer or any of the other mouthpieces attempted to explain why they think that two guys who've proven beyond any doubt that they're the worst management in the league would be a good choice to plan this rebuild?
Why would I believe a rebuild is going to succeed in when it's being planned by the two dumbest guys working in hockey today? How can a rebuilding plan succeed when it's lacking the single biggest ingredient of a successful plan, which is a competent planner?
God, you know, maybe I'm just too bitter to be objective at this point. I mean, if I saw those two guys crossing the street, I don't know whether I'd step on the gas, or stop the car and jump out and start throwing punches. Honestly, at this point I just don't know.

Feel pretty much the way you do Eddie.
The rebuild won't actually start until those clowns are punted.
Adding a high draft pick or two is meaningless when they just counter that forward momentum with something stupid like the Khabi signing.
Just watch.

People assume that we just need a couple of high draft picks and then we're Pittsburgh-Washington-Chicago.
The truth is, there are plenty of teams that have high picks most years and still manage to find ways to fail.

This is a good point. At what point do they jump the gun on the rebuild and do something else stupid? If they are serious about a rebuild almost 1/2 the roster will be gone before the start of next season in one way or another.

On top of that we need guys like Lander, MPS, Eberle, Petry, Chorney, and a few solid 2nd rounders to play solid roles at some point. Then add in a couple of really good vets. Big mountain to climb, until the picks bust or pan out it's tough to say how long the rebuild will actually last.
