I'm excited about this deal. NJ didn't give up anything that would cripple them in the future and solidified their depth on offence tenfold.

Players given up:
Oduya - solid two way defenceman playing poorly this year after having received his payday for playing well last season.

Bergfors - Very good top-6 prospect forward. Can play both sides of the puck, has a very good transition / posession game, good eyes and hands. Won't replace Kovalchuk's numbers but who can?

Cormier - a young Bobby Holik ... tough checking centre with some offensive upside

1st - Devils have picked well in the position in the last few years but they can afford to give it up with the depth they've acquired.

Swap of 2nd round picks - Devils will move up with this, I'm assuming. Depending on how Atlanta reacts to losing its top player, this could be anywhere in the late top 3rd to the middle of the pack pick in the second.

Because it went from being a one line team to a one player team. Everyone just passes the puck to him and then they stop his shot.

It'll get better once the team starts realizing he's just one player and that there are 18 other guys playing on any given night.

That and hopefully the team will finally be healthy after the Olympics.
