So I have a hockey pool draft tonight (snake draft probably gonna be at least 20 people - $20), and I was wondering about rookies or sleepers you guys might suggest.
Now for rookies the three I would think about taking are Tavares, Duchene or Kane (I assume they play all year in the NHL). Maybe JVR or Anisimov (sp). I like Antropov to put up big numbers this year in Atlanta.

Benn and Filatov, have impressed in preseason.

Homer pick but I'd take Erik Karlsson in a late round. John Tavares will get prime minutes.
I've noticed players like Tom Kaberle, Brendan Morrow, Paul Kariya, and Andy McDonald being skipped over because of their injuries. Gaborik is always a risky pick but if healthy he could have a career year under Torts.
I don't see Bobby Ryan or Zach Bogosian (is he still a rookie?) struggling with a sophomore slump, but I'd be weary of picking Kris Versteeg. Just a feeling.
EDIT: Brassard on the Blue Jackets, get him.

Brassard has dropped significantly in a number of my pools.

I like the Blue Jackets this year to put up some nice goal numbers. I'll probably stay away from Filatov but I'm definitely going to look at Brassard and Voracek.

Canuck fans seem to think Shirokov is going to play in the top 6 and maybe even with the Sedins. He could be a major steal.

I've picked him up in three pools already. Kinda a boom or bust, but worth a bench spot IMO for now.

Well this is just a straight points league (1 point for a goal, 1 point for an assist). We usually pick 10 players each so it's likely around 200 players will get picked. I won't have a problem taking him with one of my later picks.

Patrice Bergeron if you think he can stay healthy.
IMO, Marco Sturm is going to get a lot of Phil Kessel's minutes so I'm hoping he does well.
A lot of people forget about Brian Little, dude scored 30 goals last year with an outstanding shooting percentage.
homer pick as mentioned Erik Karlsson, who seems like he'll be running a powerplay unit for Ottawa.
depending on how deeps the leagues are;
James Neal doesn't get noticed much while everyon's picked out Louie Eriksson.
Steve Sullivan - health risks of course

Dave Bolland and Josh Bailey are two guys that come to mind.

If Bergeron were to have an outstanding first half, he'll be on Sid's wing in Vancouver.

Quick or Gustavsson?
W, GAA and SV% are the stats needed.

Tough call IMO. Quick will definitely get the starts, The Monster looked good in the few minutes he played in preseason....Based on NHL history I'd probably go Quick as he's less of a gamble, but Gustacsson could be a big payoff...although you'd have to cheer for the Leafs which is a minus.

Bit late to be saying so, but Stastny, Visnovsky, Gonchar, Briere and Giguere are all underrated on Yahoo!'s rankings due to their injuries... or in Giguere's case, sudden shitiness.
Marco Sturm is projected to be getting a lot more time in Boston.
