Should be a fun battle now that it's not so one sided between the two teams when they play against each other. The bitter rivalry is intense, more so than before with two captains that don't like each other but respect each other's abilities. It's going to be a fun one to watch in the 1st round. I honestly don't know who will take it without the usual homer picks. I think if Biron can hold his own, he could be enough to pull it out for the Flyers but that all hinges on if Fleury of last year's playoff shows up.

I think having Gagne back is going to be big for the Flyers this time around and the way the Flyers make the Pens pay on their own powerplay is embarassing, how many damn short handed chances do the Flyers get against the Pens? It's hard to watch. I think it will go to game 6. Could go either way.

Richards and Carter can and have kept Sid relatively quiet this year. And history has shown that if you hit Malkin once, he disappears. The only other forward that really concerns me is Kunitz.

The PK is going to be huge this series especially. We all know how the calls go in their building, so staying out of the box is pretty much impossible. But the lazy assed penalties have to stop. And NO MORE fucking too many men calls. If you have to take a penalty, it better be because a Pen was knocked silly.

Please let the defensemen stay healthy - there is no one who can step into their skates and do a half decent job. And limiting Jones' ice time is imperative.

And please let Biron play the way he can.

Carcillo can be an Avery type in a good way when he wants to be but it's rarely seen from him on a consistent enough basis. At one point when the Pens traded him to the Yotes, he was in the top 6 for the Coyotes. That changed this season and they had enough of him. I always thought he could be a solid fighter and player in the NHL with the way he can skate and score a goal here and there, I was choked when he was traded but I can now see why he was moved.

Still time for him to grow up and mature his game and be effective though, hate to see it happen against the Pens but whatever. I still think Downie got a raw deal as well, I felt bad for the guy, he just does stupid shit and no one tells him to smarten up and he continues to follow that path. The Flyers miss that punishing defender that makes forwards nervous. He doesn't need to be slow. He doesn't need to be 6 foot 5. He doesn't need to be exclusively a defensive-defenseman.

Do we have someone in the system that can fill the roll? It depends. The Flyers are notoriously bad when it comes to developing defensemen. Luca Sbisa, when he finally fills out, will readily try to run through an opponent. Kevin Marshall and Luc Bourdon both have pretty evident mean streaks, along with Mike Ratchuk who has a wicked hip check. Unfortunately, I don't see three out of those four given the time it'll take to become competent before being traded, or flat out released.

This Flyers team struggles against teams playing a tight team game...they have throughout Stevens' tenure. Which is why it's comical for everyone to talk about how the Flyers need to be doing this tight defensive game against the Pens...it's BS. They played well. Lots of energy, lots of hitting. Powe/Giroux/Briere had a few great shifts, Richards was doing everything he could, and I thought Lupul had a really good game. Biron was terrific (although he did go way out by the faceoff circle on a breakaway, and Timonen saved his ass).

Carter missed an absolute sure thing. Fleury made a great play, but it's one Carter should have been able to finish off.

I'm not sure where Gagne has gone, but he hasn't been very good. Knuble missed a couple of great chances as well.

Jones fell down a couple of times all by himself. All jokes aside, his hip is screwed and he shouldn't be getting the amount of ice time he is.

I'm not sure what happened that Timonen got a 10 minute misconduct at the end of the game. Hopefully he told the refs what he thought of them. He blocked a shot on the 5 on 3, Richards blocked a shot, then got slashed across the ankle/foot. Then the Pens scored.
